Finding a Hotspot on the Spot
iPass Handheld Hotspot Finder Beta provides yet another way to unify mobility.
When mobile users are on the run and need to find a nearby hotspot, speed and convenience count. They just don't have the time to sit down, boot their laptop and launch their web browser to search for a hotspot that's on their network. They have places to be.
Introducing the new iPass Hotspot Finder option for Java-enabled handheld devices and smartphones.* Available initially in the U.S., this online tool provides the ultimate in convenience when it comes to finding a nearby iPass hotspot. It's fast, simple and easy to use—even when on the go.
Here's how it works:
- Navigate to www.ipass.com/mobilehotspot on your handheld device
- Enter any information you happen to know: airport code, address, city, state, or zip code
- Choose a location from the search results to get an address and phone number
- The finder will tell you what kind of service the location has and what kind of venue it is: restaurant, cafe, retail outlet, etc.
- Through the finder, you can even view a map of the location with convenient pan and zoom functions
For the foreseeable future, smartphones and handhelds won't be replacing laptops. iPass makes this new web-based tool available to users of iPass services, so their mobile devices can work together more seamlessly—enabling greater productivity and ease of use. Best yet, it's absolutely free. Give it a try yourself at www.ipass.com/mobilehotspot.
* Most phones sold within the past two years are Java-enabled from the manufacturer.
